If you are traveling to a place you have never been before, you may run into dishes you don’t know. In these cases you may want to ask what is in the dish. You can do this by saying:

“¿Qué es eso?”

If you are asking about a specific dish, just add the name of the dish followed by the question. For example:

“Mole con Pollo. ¿Qué es eso?”

That is the easy part. Now let’s practice understanding the response. Repeat the Spanish responses as given by the waiter followed by the same response in English.

Repeat the following.

Let’s get started!

¡Empecemos!

Los tacos tienen chorizo, cebollas y cilantro. The tacos have chorizo, onions and cilantro.
La torta tiene jamón, queso y mayonesa. The sandwich has ham, cheese and mayonnaise.
El pizza tiene marisco, pan, queso y aceite de oliva. The pizza has seafood, bread, cheese and olive oil.
El pastel tiene azúcar, harina y queso crema. The cake has sugar, flour and cream cheese.

We’ll see you in the next episode!
